   General Notes:

Abigail Ewing and Samuel Brown had a son, Ewing S. Brown, who with Abigail, went to Biloxi, Mississippi, in the early part of 1840. Jane Hunter Ewing Latimer refers to Abigail in her letters to brother Thomas in 1827 and 1829. At that time, Abigail lived about six miles from the Latimers in Perry Co.

Information in THE HISTORY OF ATHENS CO., pub. 1987 by Shoemaker and Adams, available in the Athens Co. OH Historical Society & Museum says that Abigail Ewing married Samuel H. Brown in Athens Co. OH.

In the Grantor/Grantee Indexes for Perry Co. IN, Abigail Ewing and Ewing S. Brown purchased land in Perry Co. Feb. 9, 1827. Several transactions are recorded, but none after 1841. In all these transactions, Abigail is listed as Abigail Ewing not Abigail Brown. No mention is made of Samuel Brown. Ewing S. Brown was Abigail's son.

The information that Abigail Ewing died in Handsboro, MS comes from an article written by Jennie Latimer Clark, a descendant of Abigail' s sister Jane. The article was written in 1921 for the Southwestern Historical Association which met in Cannelton, IN. The article wa s filmed by the LDS Family History Library; call number for the film containing the article is 1481368.
